Animated Videos in Education

If you've read our previous blogs, you'll know that we have discussed how animation grabs attention. If not, we wrote earlier that Dropbox attracted millions of users by explaining its service with a simple animated video – commonly known as an ‘explainer video.' This video was the only thing on the homepage of their website in its early days, and it quickly became a hit.
The same fact applies for schools and for children. Explaining concepts, ideas, and events through animation appeals to children more than simply reading it. Young children tend to enjoy the creative and cartoonish style of animated videos. An animated video will stay with them longer and can be used many times. Children are imaginative beings, and animated videos tend to draw heavily from imagination, something the kids enjoy and are often drawn to.
Educational animation is used beyond just elementary and middle school. Explaining complex biological concepts and structures, such as cell reproduction or DNA, is best done through animation. It doesn't matter if your audience is 7 or 70. Remember the video the scientists use in Jurassic Park to explain how they brought the dinosaurs back to life? While the information was of course fiction, this is a technique widely used in the scientific community to translate complex ideas into an accessible format that almost anyone can understand.


Animation technology is better today than it has ever been, and there are professionals all over the world able to make animated videos about anything imaginable. The rise of tablets and animation software in schools has also opened the doors for more animation production and usage, paving the way for students of all ages to engage in this art form. Implementing animation using this new technology will help viewers learn and interact on a new level.

With the level of technology increasing, the ability to incorporate animated videos and lessons into all levels of education has the potential to improve the learning experience of students. As mentioned earlier, complicated concepts can be better visualized and explained through animation, helping our professionals teach and learn the concepts that are changing the world today. The face of education can be changed here drastically because of the amount of increase in this field of technology. Animation has the potential to work its way into curriculum and enhance education on an unprecedented level, allowing for a quicker understanding and mastery of concepts for our students young and old.
